Our Club
We are a community-based club of friendly ordinary men and women, who take pride in doing extraordinary things together. We enjoy each other’s company and have lots of fun together.
Our own Lions Club here in Johnsonville was formed in 1969 (and we’re still here, so we must be doing something right!). Since inception we have made many significant community contributions simply too numerous to list here. Our recent focus has been on fundraising (in partnership with other Lions Clubs) to fund cockpit upgrades for the new fleet of fixed wing aircraft operated by the Life Flight Trust. Our previous major effort was to contribute to the cost of building a “playscape” healing playground at the new Wellington Children’s Hospital, and supporting the funding of internal equipment. Our current fund raising thrust is to support the the running of a camp for young people who have diabetes.
Lions Clubs are an international organisation of some 1.4 million people in over 200 countries. We are recognised as a trusted “brand” that opens many doors, significantly enhancing our effectiveness.
Our members are all volunteers. We all contribute to the aims and projects of our club as best we can. There is no compulsion or “must do’s”. Collectively though, everybody’s contribution adds up to achieve our goals.

Your helping hands will make a difference.
We warmly welcome new members and volunteers from all backgrounds and people of any age. There are two ways to get involved:
As a Member:
- Be part of our team
- Contribute your ideas
- Help drive change
As a Volunteer:
- Support our events
- Lend a hand when needed
- See the difference you make
If you are passionate about helping people and supporting our community, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to our President Stephen Mills on 022 362 2302 or Contact Us by email.
